Hawaiian Smoothie Recipe • Tropically Delicious! | Club Foody

 

I’ve set my mind (and goals) that 2025 will be a big change, a great transition for a better me 👱‍♀️! All my life, I had the perfect body without putting any effort into it. Since my menopause though, I’ve gained a lot of weight that I haven’t been able to shred. Well, that’s enough of the insanity!
 
I’ve been on a detox a couple times already (more to come) and also, I’m back to the gym 🏋️‍♀️! When I’m done exercising, I’m hungry! I need to eat something satisfying and also healthy. It can be my Homemade GranolaAvocado Sweet Pea Toast, Hard-boiled Egg, White Omelet, or a smoothie!
 
On the website, I have a dozen recipes of smoothie to choose from like PapayaPolynesianBerry Fusion Smoothie, and many more. Another one that I like to load my body with great nutrients and vitamins 💚 is my Hawaiian Smoothie!
 
Healthy and so tasty, this is a great refreshing beverage to make in the morning. Like any other smoothie, this Hawaiian Smoothie recipe is quick and easy to make 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳. The only thing you need is a very good blender… that’s all!
 
I don’t have any lactose intolerance therefore I use regular milk 🥛 but for those of you who have this condition, you can switch for almond milk which is equally delicious! There’s also vanilla yogurt that goes in and although there’s lactose in it, it’s easier for people to digest than milk.
 
The other ingredients that are a part of this amazing smoothie are mangoes, pineapple, banana 🍌 and coconut flakes! All are a good source of vitamins and minerals, including antioxidants, fiber, potassium, and more…
 
With exotic ingredients, this Hawaiian Smoothie is a delicious way to start your day! After losing over 18 lbs. since the beginning of the year – and more to come before reaching my goal -, I’ll be relying on exercising 🚴‍♀️ as well as good, nutritious food which include this healthy beverage…

Bourride Provençale with Aïoli Recipe • Fish Soup | Club Foody

 

I love soups… either hot or cold! In most cases, they’re easy to make, can be loaded with nutrients and vitamins 💚 plus they’re versatile. During the winter, a nice hot bowl of soup is very soothing while during the summer, a cold one is incredibly refreshing!
 
Until we get to warmer weather, we still enjoy soup! In early spring, I make “lighter” recipes like Thai Coconut ShrimpHot & SourAvgolemono Chicken SoupCream of Mushroom 🍄, West Coast Smoked Salmon Chowder, and others, including this one… Bourride Provençale with Aïoli!
 
This fish soup is packed with yumminess! There’s a nice array of vegetables and seasonings, that make this French recipe so amazing! With the added Aïoli, it gives a nice rich and creamy garlicky 🧄 flavor to this classic!
 
There’s no right or wrong when it comes to the choice of fish 🐟 as long as it’s white. Depending where you’re form, it can be anything from cod, turbot, halibut, mackerel, monkfish, sea bass, etc. After the fillets are well-seasoned, they’re cut into 2-inch pieces so they all cook evenly.
 
When I make 👩‍🍳 my Bourride Provençale with Aïoli, I like pouring in some dry white wine! If you’re worried about using alcohol in dishes, did you know that most of it will evaporate? That’s right! The longer you cook it, the more it burns off! If you still don’t want to use any, substitute vegetable broth.
 
A point I would like to highlight when using white or red wine 🍷 is to use something you like. You don’t need to spend a lot of money. If you can’t stand the taste of it when drinking it, don’t expect to enjoy it when using it in a dish. The wine’s flavors will still be there…
 
Another typical vegetable that is in this soup is potato 🥔. I prefer using Yukon Gold because they hold their shape but red potatoes are another alternative. An additional one to consider is French fingerling potatoes and if you decide to use them, simply cut them in half.
 
Piment d’Espelette?
Yes, this French spice is not so common here in North America 🌎. For those of you who don’t know what it is, it’s a type of red chili pepper from the Basque region that is ground. Its best substitute is cayenne pepper. If using it instead, cut the amount in half.
 
Clam juice is another ingredient that goes in. The 8-ounce bottle can be found at any supermarket 🛒. On the other hand, you can always use a dozen fresh baby clams instead. I prefer using the juice because it’s more concentrated and I can really savour the taste in the background.
 
Everybody makes mistakes…
I wasn’t paying attention and, in the video 🎥, I added the Aïoli before tempering it. I was lucky it didn’t separate! Technically, it has to be tempered prior to being added to the mixture by pouring the hot fish liquid, in a slow stream, into it, whisking continuously before adding more until the garlic sauce is tempered.
 
Bourride Provençale with Aïoli is a lovely one-pot, comfort food to enjoy this Spring! It’s a healthy main course to serve along with crusty bread or crostini! You can keep some extra Aïoli to spread on your bread 🍞… it’s delightful!

Maple Syrup Frosting Recipe • Delightfully Delicious! | Club Foody

 

We’ve all had a few catastrophes 😲 in the kitchen. One of mine was with frosting…
 
I was in my early 20s’ and I just finished baking my first homemade chocolate cake – it was my mother’s recipe. As a frosting, I wanted to have a nice coffee flavor. I grabbed a cook book 📗 and attentively followed the instructions… well, perhaps too closely.
 
The recipe was calling for 1 cup of coffee ☕. Nothing was mentioned that it was a cup of “brewed” coffee. Yep, that’s right! I literally took a full cup of instant coffee and added it to the mixture. After adding ½ pound of sugar to it, I realized that I couldn’t rescue it and went to my supermarket to buy a premade one.
 
For years to come, I never made any icing from scratch until a friend 👩‍🦰 of mine took me under her wing and showed me how easy it was. From there, my fear of screwing up was gone and I never went back to the premade ones after that!
 
There are so many flavors to choose from depending on the cake/cupcakes 🧁 you bake. It can be the classic Vanilla Buttercream Frosting, Coca Cola Frosting, Raspberry Frosting, Coconut Buttercream, Orange Icing, Cream Cheese Frosting, Brown Sugar Cream Cheese Frosting, and many more…
 
One that I enjoy using because of its taste is Maple Syrup Frosting! It’s another delicious and outstanding recipe to have. The mix of sweet and tangy flavor alone gives a nice taste to your baked goods 🍰. With its lovely, creamy and smooth texture, this is perfect for decorating your baking!
 
The Maple Syrup Frosting is quick and easy to make. It takes about 10 minutes ⏳ to whip up this delicious icing! The most important thing to keep in mind is to use “real” maple syrup… not table syrup. That’s not the real stuff!
 
After all the ingredients are nicely mixed, prep the piping bag with your chosen piping tip, fill the bag up with the frosting and chill it for 25 to 30 minutes 🕞 before decorating. For some reason, it works better that way.

Italian Gnocchi Casserole Recipe • Great One-pot Dish | Club Foody

 

Unless the nice weather holds on, by the end of September, I start making casseroles. It becomes a weekly affair until the following year when the temperature gets warm again. To me, they are the ultimate comfort food 🥰!
 
On the website 💻, I have dozens and dozens of casserole recipes. There’s BobotieGreen Bean Mushroom & Almond CasseroleLancashire HotpotPierogi Casserole, and many others. Now, here’s another fabulous one to add to the list… my Italian Gnocchi Casserole!
 
This dish is amazing! It’s simple and yet so tasty! I find it’s the perfect weeknight meal to have. It’s not complicated, easy to make plus very satisfying! With a gorgeous mix of ingredients, this is a great recipe to add to your folder 📘!
 
I use 2 packages (400 g each) of premade frozen gnocchi to make this recipe. I know, what a shock 😮!! Frankie is not making it from scratch! I just didn’t feel like making them… there are days like that! Now, the directions say 12 minutes to sauté them… I do 10 because they’ll be cooking more in the oven.
 
When making them from scratch, the steps are a little different…
After they’ve been chilled for 40 minutes (see the homemade recipe), working in batches, drop the gnocchi in a large pot of boiling salted water 💦. As soon as they rise, remove them, using a spider strainer, and transfer to a large plate in a single layer. After the spinach is wilted, add them to the skillet.
 
The veggies are onions, celery and red peppers as well as baby spinach. You can switch the celery for celery root if you want. I never add mushrooms 🍄 to this Italian Gnocchi Casserole but I’m sure it would be lovely!
 
When it comes to seasonings, it’s minimal: salt 🧂, pepper and Italian seasoning. The reason is because of the hot Italian sausage. There’s a lot of spices in it and has no problem to shine on its own! To make it from scratch, click on this link… Hot Italian Sausage
 
When making this featured recipe or any others, using good quality ingredients is the key to a delicious result! If you’re not making my Marinara Sauce then use a good brand. To top everything off, there are 2 kinds of cheese 🧀; Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Hard-Boiled Eggs • Perfect Every Time! - Tips & Tricks | Club Foody

 

Cooking is a learning process and many mistakes will occur during this delicious educational path! I remember trying to make my first coffee icing. The recipe was asking for a certain amount of coffee ☕ and I literally added it in granules… not even diluted with hot water. It was horrible!
 
Undeniably, I’m sure I’m not the only one who overcooked eggs and ended it up with that green ring around the yolks. Don’t worry, it’s safe ✅ to eat them although seeing a green ring is not really appealing. Actually, it’s safer to eat overcooked than undercooked eggs.
 
How does that green ring occur? What happens is when the eggs are boiled (or cooked) too long, it creates a chemical reaction called denaturation – my husband is a scientist 👨‍🔬! The sulfur from the whites combines with the iron from the yolks.
 
After a few attempts and having unsuccessful results, I called 📞 my mom. She told me how to proceed and they have been flawlessly cooked ever since! Hard-Boiled Eggs • Perfect Every Time is what this episode is all about!
 
As much as we think that boiling eggs is easy, there’s still a cooking method and timing to get them right all the time. In the video, I show you how simple it is to accomplish. When serving Russian Deviled Eggs or simply making an Egg Salad Sandwich 🥪, you want them to be just right!
 
What you need to make Hard-Boiled Eggs • Perfect Every Time is a timer. When the water finally starts boiling, the time is set for 9 to 12 minutes ⏰ depending on the size of the eggs. From here, they’re transferred to an iced water bath for 15 minutes to stop the cooking process and cool… done!
 
There’s also a method when it comes to peeling off the shells…
Always start at the larger end because there’s an air pocket that makes it easier to separate the shell from the membrane. If there’s a little bit of stubbornness when peeling, let cold water from the tap run over it while doing it. Also, keep in mind that farm-fresh eggs 👩‍🌾👨‍🌾 are harder to peel…
 
This Hard-Boiled Eggs • Perfect Every Time foolproof method is a good one to know. It cooks the eggs 🥚 marvellously without resulting with a green ring plus it’s a charm to peel off the shells. There will be no more disappointments using this method… I promise!

Grasshopper Pie Recipe • A St. Patrick's Day Treat! | Club Foody

 

Without being 💯% sure, apparently there’s some Irish on my mother’s side. Undeniably, there’s Scottish from my dad’s while both sides have French heritage. As St. Patrick’s Day is coming up in a few days, I just can’t resist showcasing a “green” recipe!
 
There are a few already on the website like Spinach & Ricotta Scrambled Eggs 🥚, Shamrock Shake (it’s the adult version), Chocolate Mint Nanaimo BarsGnudi also known as Malfatti, and others. Another one to add to this list is my Grasshopper Pie!
 
This is a favorite of ours!
Made with a lovely cream cheese filling in a nice chocolate graham crust 🍫, this sumptuous minty pie is so delicious plus it’s very easy to make. It has a beautiful flavor profile from the Crème de Menthe and the Crème de Cacao.
 
The first thing that has to be done before starting the filling is the pie crust. I use my Chocolate Honey Graham Crust recipe for this application. After pressing the mixture into a springform pie plate, it’s baked for 3 minutes ⏳ at 350ºF, cooled completely before chilling until needed.
 
Let’s talk about the filling…
Many recipes out there are made with marshmallow, mine is made with cream cheese! There are no health benefits in these cylindrical guys as they’re mostly sugar… nothing else. At least, the cheese 🧀 has some vitamin A in it!
 
Yes, there’s alcohol in this Grasshopper Pie!
I use both green Crème de Menthe and white Crème de Cacao. Can you make it without these? I guess you can 🤔 but I never tried it. You’ll have to play with mint or peppermint extract by starting with 1 teaspoon and add more to your liking.
 
When the filling is done, whipped cream is gently folded into the mixture. I use about 1 ½ cups of it. You can buy 🛒 a good brand from the store or simply make it from scratch. Here’s the link for my homemade recipe… Perfect Whipped Cream Every Time – How to
 
After spooning the filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading it out evenly with a spatula, it has to be chilled for 3 hours ⏰ or until it sets. It’s easy peasy and doesn’t need to be frozen. If it’s left in the fridge longer, cover loosely with foil – the same applies for the leftovers which can be kept for up to 5 days.
 
I don’t decorate the pie because I find it sweet enough. However, you can add a tablespoon or two of the Chocolate Honey Graham Cracker Pie Crust, some whipped cream, chocolate curls or even green sanding sugar on top… Have fun with your pie 👩‍🍳!
 
This Grasshopper Pie is a scrumptious dessert to make anytime or when celebrating St. Patricks’ Day 🍀! Refreshing, this is a lovely way to end a meal. If you want to try it in liquid form, here’s an amazing cocktail… Chocolate Grasshopper Martini!
