White Sangria Recipe • Perfect Summer Drink! | Club Foody

We like entertaining but more so during the summer time. Having friends or family over for brunch or dinner and enjoying the beautiful weather together with a tasty cold cocktail, great food and nice music is a marvelous way to spend time with them.

I have a list of delicious summer cocktails I like to serve such as Rum Runner, Mixed Berry Margarita, Long Island Iced Tea, Mai Tai, Blackberry Mojito, Painkiller, Piña Colada, Mint Julep, Peach Bellini, Daiquiri, and many more. When it comes to mixology made with wine, there’s my Cosmocello and Spanish Sangria that I’ve already shared with you. Now here’s another one… my White Sangria!

What a perfect cocktail to serve on a hot summer afternoon! It’s sweet but not overly with a nice variety of fruits that have been soaked and chilled in white wine and orange liqueur for a few hours allowing the flavors to blend. Before serving, this refreshing cocktail is topped up with soda and ice cubes, and fresh strawberries are added… awesome! Who doesn’t want to make something ahead of time before your guests show up?

This White Sangria is a tasty change from the popular red wine Sangria as its lighter making it a great drink to serve when the mercury rises. Now don’t be fooled by the taste… it certainly packs a punch and with the heat, you can get tipsy faster than you’d think…

When it comes to wine, I prefer Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio as they’re both dry and crisp. As there are fruits and Cointreau in the recipe, don’t go crazy by buying an expensive bottle. Get something in the mid-range, a wine you can still enjoy on its own. The one I’m using in the video is Sawmill Creek, Sauvignon Blanc.

I don’t think I ever made the same White Sangria twice. I constantly change my selection of fruits. In the video, I use, cantaloupe, watermelon, pineapple, StrawberriesKiwi and orange but other times, I might replace a few with others like peach, limes, Passion Fruits, apples, Mangoes, raspberries, etc. The beauty of making this cocktail is to use fruits you have on hand, what’s in season and what you prefer…

This White Sangria is the perfect summer cocktail! Fruity but not overly so, this is a drink everyone will rave about. Very refreshing and extremely easy to make, I’m sure this is a recipe you’ll love to make often especially when the temperature is hot outside… Please keep in mind that enjoying this smooth summer drink under the sun can give you a “buzz” so drink responsibly…
Cheers!

P.S. The size of my pitcher is 5 liters/20 cups

Raspberry Jam Recipe • No Pectin Added! | Club Foody

When I go to my local farmer’s market, I’m like a kid in a candy store. I see all the fresh produce lined up and I have to refrain myself from not over buying. When I get in front of some raspberries, I have no will power… they just go straight into my shopping cart.

Raspberries are my favorite among the berries! I love the taste combination of sweet and sour. I like to eat them as is, Bake with them, use them as an Ingredient for other recipes like my Raspberry Vinaigrette, as a topping for Vanilla Ice Cream or make Raspberry Jam! It’s been my preferred jam in the morning ever since I was a child.

From June to October, these are busy months for canning. My list of preserved foods is pretty long with ChutneysJelliesMarmaladeSaucesJamsPickles, etc. When it comes to my Raspberry Jam, I usually make a double batch because the jars disappear quickly. As much as I try to scatter our consumption of these little delicious jars, I never have enough until June of the next year.

Just a quick note…
In the video, I don’t go into detail showing you the canning procedures therefore I highly suggest you click on this link to learn more… How to do Home Canning

One of my mottos I like to say is “everything happens for a good reason”, and this is a perfect example of it. Until a few years ago, I always added pectin in this jam but one year, I got distracted and forgot to add some. It turned out just perfect! Since then, I’ve been making it without it. As the fruit cooks, it releases its own natural pectin therefore there’s no need to add more.

As more fresh fruits show up during the summer months, it’s the perfect time to preserve them. If you love these berries as much as I do, making Raspberry Jam has to be on your “to do” list so you can enjoy them during the upcoming months…
Bon Appétit!

California Burgers Recipe • An Amazing Chicken Sandwich! | Club Foody

Summer time is burger time for me! A nice juicy burger on the BBQ is the best comfort food to enjoy outside. Adding a few toppings of your choice and there’s a delicious summer meal that everyone loves. Although the “typical” burger is made with ground beef, there are other proteins that can be used instead like chicken, lamb, pork, fish or even soybeans or tofu for a veggie burger version.

As a burger lover and a recipe creator, of course I have many burger recipes. So far I’ve shared my Chipotle Stuffed BrontoSmoky PorkyMexicanBlue CheeseItalian with Tomato Slaw, and there are even more to come. In this episode, I have another one to add to the list… my California Burgers!

What an incredible burger! The protein is chicken and as simple as it sounds, the flavors will just blow you away! I use Pepper Jack cheese which gives an amazing flavor to the burger but if you prefer another kind of cheese, by all means, use what you like.

The idea for this California Burger recipe was inspired by a popular American burger chain that David and I like to visit once in a while. It’s the one I always order but after making my own, I’m not too sure if I will order it again. The reason is my version is much tastier than theirs. The added bacon slices makes such a huge difference as well as the cheese. Here’s a great link on how to cook perfect bacon without the mess… Oven Baked Bacon • Best Way to Cook Bacon

In the video, I use Kaiser Buns but I usually prefer serving it with my homemade Hamburger Buns. As a burger aficionado, these hamburger buns elevate the dish with their freshness.

Also another “homemade” ingredient that I use is David’s famous Guacamole. His version is so flavorful! It’s slightly spicier than the traditional “guac” but there’s so much extra flavor in it. This also makes a big impact on this burger… you should definitely try it!

We all have our favorite burgers but it’s nice to change the menu up a little. I’m sure that after you try these yummy California Burgers, you’ll be very happy with the results!
Bon Appétit!

Sweet Chili Sauce Recipe • A Great Thai Condiment! | Club Foody

My name is Frankie and I’m a “sauce-a-holic”! It seems there’s never enough sauce for recipes. I have one for this, another for that, one that pairs well with a particular dish, and so on. In the past, I’ve been sharing many of them like my Citrus CranberryMaltaiseTartarEnchiladaIguana’s MushroomMarinaraIndonesian Peanut, and many more…

There’s another one that I really enjoy because it’s sweet and tangy with a little hint of spice in the background and it’s my Sweet Chili Sauce! This is an amazing recipe! I like to use this condiment for many of my recipes like Sweet & Sour Pineapple PorkTriple Chili Sauce for my wings, Sweet Chili Chicken Bites, Vietnamese Summer RollsChinese 5 Spice Spare Ribs, and others. This is an amazing dipping sauce when making Egg Rolls, Chicken Nuggets, Fried Calamari, Mozzarella Sticks, etc.

Like any sauce recipe, this one is pretty straight forward. With a well-balanced mix of ingredients, this is a homemade condiment recipe that is nice to have on hand. The beauty of making this Sweet Chili Sauce from scratch is you can adjust it to your liking and making it either milder or spicier. Also, it’s free of preservatives and honestly, tastes much better than the commercial ones.

Talking about commercial ones…
I add a couple drops of food coloring to make the sauce more vibrant. I use my homemade version not the ones from the store which is way healthier! I highly suggest using my natural recipe by clicking on this link… 4 Natural Food Colorings

This popular Sweet Chili Sauce originated in Thailand (nam chim kai or น้ำจิ้มไก่) is extremely quick and easy to make. Sweet, savory, tangy and spicy, this will definitely become your go-to sauce recipe…
Bon Appétit!

Cajun Poutine Recipe • A Tasty Twist on a Québécois Dish! | Club Foody

Being French Canadian and growing up in Montréal I’ve had many French dishes from the old country like BouillabaisseCoq au Vin, Canard Braisé aux Montmorency, Boeuf Bourguignon, Foie Gras, Cassoulet, etc. Although they are very delicious recipes, Québec is also known for its own cuisine. I think of Split Pea & Ham SoupOld Fashioned Baked Beans with BaconCretonTourtière, Cipaille, BouilliTarte au Sucre, and many, many more…

There’s a worldwide popular dish that originated from “La Belle Province” and it’s Poutine. If you’ve ever had Poutine before, you probably had the regular version which is French fries, cheese curds and gravy right? Now if you were to think outside of the “poutine box” how about Cajun Poutine?

This dish is on steroids! It’s so deliciously different from the traditional one. First, the gravy is packed with bold flavors and second, there’s an incredible combination of ingredients. I use my homemade Andouille Sausage recipe to make this dish as well as my Creole Seasoning Mix from scratch. These two ingredients alone are a great start for this Cajun Poutine!

Besides this remarkable recipe, I’ve actually created a few others that I will eventually share with you. In this video, I don’t show you how to make homemade French fries but making them at home, gives this dish another level of yumminess. Click on this link, to get this easy recipe… French Fries

With a delicious new twist on an old favorite, this Cajun Poutine is an amazing dish to serve as a main course! It’s flavorful and a tasty way to enjoy this famous Québécois staple. Colorful and extremely mouthwatering, this is a meal everyone in your family will love…
Bon Appétit!

Berries • How to Keep Them Longer - Tips & Tricks | Club Foody

When June is finally here, I can’t wait to get my strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries for the next couple of months. I love them! They’re so tasty and every bite is a burst of flavor! Unfortunately, they don’t keep very long… How many times have I bought some and a couple of days later, I had to throw a few out.

A few years ago while I was at my supermarket in the produce section trying to pick the best berry package, I met a woman and we started talking. I told her how hard it was to keep them fresh and surprisingly, she told me what to do.

In this Berries • How to Keep Them Longer episode, I’m going to share what I learned from her that day. Instead of having them get spoiled in the refrigerator a few days after buying them or having to throw the berries in the freezer to salvage them, there’s a couple of easy steps to do which remarkably
work amazingly well!

I’ve been using this incredibly easy tip since then and I’ve never had to throw out any berries again. The process is simple; I soak them in a vinegar-water bath which helps to kill any mold that can spoil them. From there, I rinse them, dry them and store them… done! Berries • How to Keep Them Longer really works!

With this Berries • How to Keep Them Longer trick, your berries will stay fresher longer. I can now keep them as long as 8 days – perhaps this method can keep them longer but unfortunately, the berries never last that long in our house as we eat them everyday unless I make some of my lovely recipes like Strawberry SaladBumbleberry PieStrawberry Jam, Blueberry Cake, Strawberry ButterBlack & Blue JamMixed Berry MargaritaStrawberry Ice CreamBlackberry MojitoStrawberry JamBerry Fusion Smoothie, etc…

Coffee Ice Cream Recipe • Tasty and Refreshing! | Club Foody

I’m a coffee drinker and with the long hours I put into Club Foody, I do drink a lot although I’m slowly reducing my consumption. Nonetheless, I love coffee! In the morning, what better way to start your day than with a nice hot cup of joe or a cold one in the afternoon to refresh yourself drinking a delicious Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Later on at night after dinner, a nice Spanish Coffee is a beautiful way to finish a meal…

I also cook with coffee. Adding some to stews, soups or gravies can enhance your dish. The perfect example is when I make my Bourbon Maple Bacon Jam or my Coffee Beef Stew. When I’m baking, I add it to recipes like my Black Forest CakeTiramisuDulce de Leche Chocolate ParfaitChocolate Raspberry Cake with a Mirror Glaze, etc.

There’s a cold treat made with coffee that I just love and it’s my Coffee Ice Cream! Oh my, oh my! This is such an incredible recipe! It has the perfect amount of coffee without being overwhelming. It’s not bitter at all… just sweet enough to enjoy the flavor from the beans.

There’s an ingredient that I use for this cold treat that really brings everything together and it’s my Homemade Tia Maria. The reason why I prefer using this instead of others who use Kahlúa is there’s coffee in the liqueur which really gives another layer of flavor to this cold treat.

If you enjoy coffee as much as I do then this Coffee Ice Cream is a “MUST” try! It’s easy to make and another delicious way to enjoy coffee. This is the perfect cold treat to enjoy on a hot summer day. It’s certainly a recipe any “coffee lover” should make this summer…
