The other day, I was talking 📞 with my brother and we were sharing our favorite barbecued foods. We both always liked anything on the grill. While I was telling him about Huli-Huli Chicken, Elotes, Canadian Smoky Pork Ribs, and Grilled Tuna Steaks, he was telling me his…
At one point, he brought up something I’ve never tried before and it’s Beer Can Chicken! When I told David about it, we were curious about trying it. We bought the appropriate roasting kit, got a whole chicken 🐓, and made it…
It was an OMG 🤯!
The meat was juicy and so delicious! The well-seasoned chicken sitting on a canister filled with beer along with herbs and a large garlic clove 🧄, is grilled on the barbecue until it reaches an internal temperature of 175ºF while being brushed with my lovely BBQ Sauce for Chicken…
Like any of my recipes, this Beer Can Chicken is loaded with flavor! After being rinsed under cold water 💦 and patted dry, the bird sits right on top of the canister. From there, I apply a gorgeous rub made with my homemade Chicken Spice Mix, brown sugar and canola oil. That alone gives an amazing taste to it.
The roasting kit can be found at most hardware stores or online. The price is reasonable and it comes with a canister and a lid, a stand to slide the canister in and a tray with handles. If you don’t want to buy it 🛒, here’s another way of doing it…
Sacrifice yourself by drinking half the beer 🍺 and fill it up with chopped basil, thyme sprigs and roughly chopped garlic. Place the can on an aluminum tray with edges in case the little guy gets drunk during the roasting time and falls off, creating a mess on the grill.
Either you go with or without the kit, make sure the bird is sitting comfortably over the canister by moving its legs forward to balance the weight, then apply the rub, coating the entire surface. I use canola oil in the rub with its smoke point at 450ºF but clarified butter 🧈 can be used (smoke point 480ºF).
With the heat ranging from 375ºF to 400ºF, the stand (or aluminum tray) is placed in the middle of the barbecue on indirect heat 🔥, close the lid and cook until the internal temperature reads 175ºF… easy-peasy, right!
After 45 minutes it has been sitting there… literally, we’ll brush on some of my BBQ Sauce for Chicken. I normally use a cup. We’ll close the lid and repeat every 15 minutes until it’s done. Depending on the size of your bird, it can take from 1:30 to 2 hours ⏰.
This Beer Can Chicken roasting method gives incredible results! Basted from the inside and well-seasoned outside, this is a delicious BBQ recipe to make this summer 🌴.
