Chocolate Waffles Recipe • A Breakfast Treat! | Club Foody

Valentine’s 💘 is coming up this weekend and you’ll probably want to surprise your partner with a lovely breakfast. You might go for Eggs BennyCrêpes Suzette, a lovely Quiche, some Blueberry PancakesFrench ToastFarmer’s Sausage Skillet, etc.

Valentine’s is always associated with chocolate (also flowers 💐, cards and gifts) therefore here’s a scrumptious recipe to make… Chocolate Waffles! Super easy to make, in less than 15 minutes, you can enjoy this amazing breakfast item! It’s a nice change from the regular ones.

They’re a great start to the day but can also be served as a dessert. Mix all the ingredients and you’re good to go, ready to make these tasty guys! My waffle iron takes about 4 minutes ⏳ per waffle but yours can take less or more time.

There’s about 1 ½ cups of whole milk 🥛 that goes in the making of these Chocolate Waffles. Now, if you have some evaporated milk leftover sitting in your fridge and don’t know what to do with it, this is the time to use it. In the video, I use ½ cup of evaporated milk therefore only 1 cup of whole milk.

Where are these decadent “gaufres au chocolat” (in French) from? Apparently, French Joseph Gillier who was the chef d’office to Stanisław I Leszczyński, King of Poland and Duke of Lorraine, published the first recipe back in 1751. He added 3 ounces of grated chocolate 🍫 into the batter, mixing it in before cooking.

These Chocolate Waffles are a delicious way to express your love and affection to your partner! Put together in next to no time and topped with whipped cream and some strawberries 🍓, this will definitely earn you some bonus points!
Bon Appétit! 🍽

Best & Easy Way to Steam Hot Dogs - Tips & Tricks | Club Foody

Winter can be long and boring, here in Canada! I’m not a winter person so I behave just like a bear; I retreat to my cave (kitchen) and unless, it’s a nice sunny day 🌞 without winds, I don’t step out except if I have to!

Although we’re in the middle of that frigid season 🥶, once in a while, I crave hot dogs… either steamed or grilled. Without venturing outside, I make them in the comfort of my warm kitchen! Grilling is easy but what about steaming?

In this quick tutorial, I’m showing you the Best & Easy Way to Steam Hot Dogs! This cooking method is simple with great results… the same as when you go to the ballparks ⚾ or walk to a hot dog stand after a night out!

I learned this method from my mother 👵…
Originally, she was using a skillet and placed a splatter screen on top… you know the ones that have a wide diameter, are flat with a handle! She was putting the wieners on top of the screen and turned them a few times until they were ready. It took her about 20 to 25 minutes ⏰ – she didn’t cover them.

My Best & Easy Way to Steam Hot Dogs cooking is quick and efficient. You can enjoy your favorite dogs 🌭 anytime like Beer Brats, Coney Island, Chicago-Style Hot Dogs, Chili Dogs, Sonoran, or Michigan Hot Dogs!

With just a few inches of water 💦 and a steaming basket, you can enjoy them anytime by doing my Best & Easy Way to Steam Hot Dogs cooking method! It’s quick, easy plus you have the same results as the ones from the ballpark or hot dog stand!
Bon Appétit! 🍽

Chili Dogs Recipe • A Tailgating Favorite! | Club Foody

This weekend is Super Bowl 🏈! Many will gather to watch the game. You’ll either be tailgating, going out to your favorite sports bar or staying at home. If you’re like us and hosting a party, you want to have food that will please your friends!

With over 60 recipes on the website, there’s a vast variety of them to choose from. It can be pepperoni pizza 🍕, pork ribssix layer chip dipchicken wingsburgerssalsa, etc. Another one that is perfect for this event is hot dogs but not just any kind… Chili Dogs!

Chili is a popular item to make on Super Bowl weekend. Now, when it’s combined with steamed hot dogs 🌭, it’s amazing! These are a great crowd pleaser. With a bold and tasty chili along with your favorite toppings, this is an amazing finger food for this sporting event.

It takes over 2 hours to make it but it’s so worth it! First, the onions are seasoned with salt and quickly sautéed. It’s important to add salt 🧂 because it helps to draw out water from the onions which causes them to sweat and soften. This procedure is called osmosis.

Then comes the rest of the veggies. There are a couple tablespoons of jalapeño peppers that goes in which gives just enough zip to this Chili Dogs recipe. Unless you really want it spicier 🧯, double the amount but if you’re serving them to a bunch of people, make sure everyone is okay with heat tolerance.

After the meat is cooked, the rest goes in. There’s tomato paste, diced tomatoes 🍅 but you can you’re your own tomates concassées if you prefer, tomato sauce although you can use my marinara sauce, and the seasonings.

What takes time is reducing the sauce to a nice thickness. That takes about 2 hours ⏰. The first hour, stir occasionally but for the last one, you’ll have to stir frequently. As it reduces considerably, the chances of sticking to the bottom is greater plus it might burn and we don’t want that to happen.

These Chili Dogs are undeniably a great food item to serve to your buddies! Spoon a generous amount of sauce on top of steamed hot dogs before garnishing with red or white chopped onions and sharp Cheddar cheese 🧀… it’s yummy and a bit messy! Here are a couple more similar recipes to try… Michigan Hot Dogs and Coney Island.
Bon Appétit! 🍽

Michelada Recipe • Mexican Beer Cocktail | Club Foody

I’ve never really been a beer drinker. There’s a little aftertaste that I can’t get over. Although beer is certainly not one of my preferred drinks, once in a blue moon, I don’t mind having one especially when it’s hot outside 🥵. The way I like it is with clamato juice and it’s called a Red Eye.

There are some beer cocktails I’ve tried that I don’t mind. I think of Coronarita 🍹, Shandy, and also Dr. Pepper. There are also other drinks made with beer that I never had such as Black Velvet, Corrido Prohibido, and Boilermaker.

One that I had last summer and surprisingly, it was quite tasty was Michelada! This refreshing Mexican beer cocktail is similar to a Bloody Caesar as well as a Red Eye. It’s almost a mix of both. It has clamato juice, lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and Tajín along with salt 🧂 and pepper.

If you’re an American, most likely, you’ll reach for tomato juice 🍅 because you’re accustomed to it when having a Bloody Mary. It’s not a bad substitute but I highly suggest getting out of your comfort zone and try it with clamato juice. It’s thinner plus it’s a combination of both, clamato juice and tomato juice along with spices with a slight briny taste in the background.

This Michelada • Mexican Beer Cocktail wouldn’t be Mexican if it wasn’t about having its beer 🍺. There’s no right or wrong. Simply use your preferred ones. It can be Corona, Pacífico, Modelo, Sol, etc. Another option is to use a light beer…

This is super fast to make. Just like a Bloody Caesar/Bloody Mary, it can be garnished with many food items. You can use a mix of them like cocktail onionscherry tomatoes, green olives stuffed with pimento, poached shrimp, gherkins, sausage, hot peppers, celery stick 🥬, etc.

Even if you’re not a beer drinker but enjoy a Bloody Caesar/Mary once in a while, you’ll certainly like this Michelada • Mexican Beer Cocktail! It’s refreshing and a fun drink to have anytime. With Super Bowl 🏈 coming up this weekend, I’m sure your guests will enjoy this drink…
Cheers!🍻

Mustard Vinaigrette Recipe • A Must Have! | Club Foody

Way before I realized that I’ve always been a foody, I started making my own vinaigrettes and salad dressings. It wasn’t by choice. I was going to university 👩‍🎓, working part-time and living on my own. My budget was very tight and I could only buy one of them at a time…

When push comes to shove, I thought that the easiest way to have more selection than one dressing or vinaigrette was to make 👩‍🍳 them from scratch. Quickly, I was making one almost every week. That is when I created this one… Mustard Vinaigrette!

With its beautiful taste along with some sweetness, this is a great condiment for your salad but also delicious to drizzle over roasted vegetables 🍆🥕. Its bold flavor is perfect for winter but I’m sure you’ll be using it all year round!

In the ingredient amount section, it says 1 tablespoon 🥄 from each mustard. David likes it that way. Personally, I prefer a little more intensity therefore I like to go for 1 ¼ tablespoons each instead of 1. Like I always mention, adjust the recipe to your liking… I also use my Sweet & Spicy German Mustard but whole grain is another option.

On the site, I’ve already posted over a dozen vinaigrettes and dressings. Although I like them all (obviously, otherwise I would never share them), I feel that certain of them are more suitable according to the season. As an example… I love my Raspberry Vinaigrette but prefer enjoying it during the summer versus winter ⛄ or the opposite when it comes to my Rosemary Balsamic Vinaigrette.

It takes less than 5 minutes ⏳ to make and here you have an incredible condiment! I like using this Mustard Vinaigrette on my Roasted Winter Vegetable Pasta Salad… it pairs marvellously! Versatile, it can be used for diverse applications such as marinades, dips, or even to enhance toast or crostini
Bon Appétit! 🍽

Zucchini Pancakes Recipe • A Tasty Bite! | Club Foody

Don’t you like when there’s a recipe that can be enjoyed for different meals. I think of omeletsquiches, and other egg 🥚 recipes like scrambled and crêpesbaked beansCroque-madamebread pudding, etc. Of course, I ate cold pizza 🍕 leftovers many times in the morning especially the day after a night out…

One that we both, David and I, really like is Zucchini Pancakes 🥒! Loaded with deliciousness, these little guys can be enjoyed for brunch as well as a light lunch or an appetizer! They can be paired with either sour cream or tzatziki.

Tomorrow is Chinese New Year 🎊 and to highlight this important event, what better idea than showcasing this popular savory dish also called hutazi (糊塌子)! Although popular in China, these little guys are also a favorite in other countries such as Turkey, Israel, and Korea.

This Zucchini Pancakes recipe is super easy to make. What takes the most time is to extract the moisture from the grated zucchinis. I normally start early and let them sit in the colander for 4 to 5 hours ⏰ but if you don’t have that luxury, 30 to 45 minutes is sufficient.

From there, I scoop them in the middle of a large cheesecloth or muslin, gather the corners, and squeeze out the excess liquid 💦 until barely anything comes out. If you want nice crispy pancakes, that’s the way to go. The rest is easy peasy…

There’s a lot of yummy ingredients that go in the mixture. I add garlic, onions, roasted red peppers, some dill, lemon zest, eggs, cheese 🧀 and freshly ground black pepper. After the flour is added, if you think the pancake mixture is too wet, add some flour… not too much… maybe a tablespoon at the most.

To cook these little guys, very little oil is added to a skillet. It needs just enough to cover the bottom of it. To make them even, use a portion scoop – mine is about 2-inches in diameter – and flatten them slightly on top. Don’t overcrowd the pan. It should take 2:30 to 3 minutes per side… it’s quite fast ⏳.

These Zucchini Pancakes are so yummy! They’re easy to make 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 and you can enjoy them pretty much anytime. Serve them with a dollop of sour cream or tzatziki… delish!
Bon Appétit! 🍽
