Lemon Gelato Recipe • A Refreshing Cold Treat! | Club Foody

Summer is about ice cream 🍨 and other cold treats! It’s a sweet pleasure we all crave. At home, frozen treats are rotated from week to week. I always have a few varieties in my freezer. If you ask me which is my favorite, frankly, I won’t know what to say. I enjoy them all; Strawberry Ice Cream 🍓, Fudgesicles, Mango Sorbet, popsicles, etc.

Although I can’t tell you exactly which one I prefer, there’s an Italian classic that I really like and it’s Lemon Gelato! This is probably the most refreshing frozen treat to enjoy this season. With a creamy texture, the right amount of lemon 🍋, plus limoncello (optional), this is simply delicious!

The recipe is quite simple… It requires 6 ingredients (8 if you add limoncello and food coloring) and after chilling the mixture for a few hours then churning it, you’re ready to enjoy it right away if you want. Unlike typical ice cream which are hard, Lemon Gelato is enjoyed soft. I personally prefer it hard so I return my churned mixture to the freezer for a day.

Another plus about it is I don’t use any yolks. I honestly don’t think they’re needed! With the right balance of heavy cream and whole milk (don’t use anything else), the texture will be incredibly creamy and velvety.

While many simply mix all the ingredients in the jar of a blender, I do an extra step. I combine heavy cream, whole milk, sugar and salt in a saucepan on medium heat. I stir until the sugar is dissolved – I DON’T warm up the mixture – and as soon as it’s done, I remove it from the heat. Doing this step helps melt the sugar as well as the ground sea salt. If this step isn’t done, you’ll end up with crystalized sugar and some crunch in your mixture… not exactly what I call “smooth”. 😋

Lemon zest is also added to this recipe. The best kitchen tool to have it as small as possible is to use a microplane. A grater is another option but the zest will have to be chopped into smaller pieces. Of course, using the best quality lemons 🍋 will give a superior result to this cold treat.

An ingredient that is sooo non -traditional is Limoncello! In the video, I don’t show it but if you want to use it, reduce the amount of lemon juice to 1/2 cup and add 2 tablespoon of the Italian liqueur. Keep in mind that you’ll have no choice but to freeze it after it’s churned as the liqueur will thin out the mixture.

Let’s talk about food coloring… Because I film the recipe and take pictures of it, of course, I will intensify the color. Do you need it? The answer is “no”. On the other hand, we all eat with our eyes 👀 first and adding a little, makes it more appealing. I have 4 different Natural Food Coloring recipes so check them out…

Incredibly refreshing and tasty, this Lemon Gelato (Gelato al Limone) is perfect to enjoy on a hot summer day 🌞. With just the right amount of sweetness, this cold treat is a thirst-quencher! Simple to make with just a few ingredients, this is a recipe that everyone should make this summer…
Bon Appétit! 🍽

Pork Chops with Spicy Peach Sauce Recipe | Club Foody

Every time a certain produce is in season, I take advantage of it by making lots of recipes. This also applies to peaches 🍑. I love this fruit and there’s so much we can do with it like Peach Cobbler, Peach Jam, Peach Melba, Peach Galettes, Peach Ice Cream, and even Peach Bellini!

Although they’re often used in sweet recipes, peaches are amazing in savory ones as well like pizzas 🍕, salads 🥗, focaccias, salsas, and others including this featured one… Pork Chops with Spicy Peach Sauce!

This one is all about the sauce! Fruity with a bit of spice along with a lovely combination of ingredients, this is an original recipe that is perfect for pork as well as chicken! It’s easy to make and the results are remarkable! It’s a mouthwatering way to enjoy peaches…

I find peaches so versatile and when I created this Pork Chops with Spicy Peach Sauce recipe, I knew I was making something special! This protein is lean and good for us but let’s be honest, it’s a little on the bland side 🥱. Don’t get me wrong… many times, David and I enjoy it simply seasoned with salt and pepper along with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. On the other hand, this sauce recipe enhances the pork and trust me, the pairing is incredible 😍!

In most cases, sauces bring the dish to a higher level of deliciousness. As you navigate ⛵ the website, you’ll see I have a few other pork chop recipes with sauces like Caribbean Jerk BBQ Pork Chops, Asian Sesame Pork Chops, Pork Chops Diablo, and Spicy Pumpkin Pork Chops plus there are more coming so stay tuned…

This Pork Chops with Spicy Peach Sauce is unbelievably delicious! It’s a great way to jazz up your protein with this sweet, savory and slightly spicy sauce. Take advantage of peach 🍑 season by making this tasty recipe…

Homemade Sour Mix • A Bar Essential - Tips & Tricks | Club Foody

With my big hair and high heels, going to bars and clubs in the 80s’, there was a wide range of colorful drinks like Woo Woo (I’m not kidding you), Tequila Sunrise, Long Island Iced Tea, Grasshopper, Singapore Sling, Blue Lagoon, Sex on the Beach, Piña Colada, Cosmopolitan, B-52, etc.

I remember that big green bottle of Sour Mix sitting on the shelf behind the bartender. It’s was great to make Amaretto Sour, Blue Hawaii, Whiskey Sour, Cable Car, Midori Sour, Tom Collins, Margarita, and so on. It was okay but nothing fantastic.

Later during that decade, I became a bartender and that is when I decided to make it from scratch… Homemade Sour Mix! I think it should be called “simple” in front of it because it’s extremely easy to make. With equal parts of simple syrup, freshly squeezed (don’t use the bottle) lemon juice as well as freshly squeezed lime juice (same here, leave that commercial bottle alone… it’s concentrated), this is how this bar mixer is made.

Besides a number of cocktail recipes that can be made with Homemade Sour Mix, this can also be incorporated in regular beverages. Add some in a tall glass of water over ice and you’ve got yourself a quick Lemonade. If you crave for a 7•Up and have none around, pour a couple ounces of this bar mixer in a glass of club soda. To spike the flavor of your cranberry juice, add an ounce of it.

Also known as sweet & sour mix, Homemade Sour Mix is a bar essential. It can be stored in a cool, dark place or in the refrigerator. After making it from scratch, you’ll never go back to the commercial brands.
Cheers! 🥂

Homemade Sour Mix recipe:
– ½ cup simple syrup
– ½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
– ½ cup freshly squeezed lime juice

When sugar from simple syrup is melted, add lemon and lime juice. Stir well and let the mixture cool to room temperature before transferring it into a glass container. Yields 1 ½ cups.

Strawberry Daiquiri Recipe •Refreshing Summer Drink | Club Foody

Ahhhh, summer! Warm weather, dining outside, playing golf 🏌️‍♀️, cycling 🚴‍♀️, walking, travelling 🛫, and simply relaxing on the patio reading a book. The birds are chirping, the trees and flowers are in full bloom, and the sky is blue. What’s missing from this picture? Oh, I know, a cocktail!

It’s nice sipping a cold drink 🍹 when it’s warm outside. There’s Paloma, Piña Colada, Sangria, Moscow Mule, Mint Julep, Vodka Spritzer, Margarita, Mai Tai, Mojito, Tequila Sunrise, and many more including this classic one… Strawberry Daiquiri!

I love, love, love this drink! All you need is a good blender! It takes 5 minutes and you’re ready to sip on something really tasty! With fresh strawberries, a good quality white rum, some lime juice and powdered sugar, this version is 💯 better than any premix from the store…

On one of our trips, we bought a premixed bottle and do you know what we did with it? We poured it down the drain! Ugh, ugh, ugh… it was disgusting! It tasted nothing like the real stuff! That was it for us… From there, we never ever considered buying another bottle of premix.

Mixing a real homemade Strawberry Daiquiri at home with real strawberries 🍓 is totally superior to anything out there. You’ll spend time sipping on it so I’m sure finding 5 minutes ⏰ to make it is not such a big deal. What takes the longest time is to prep the fruits by hulling and slicing them… the rest is a breeze!

Summer is about berries but sadly, they don’t keep very long. How many times have I bought some and a couple of days later, I had to throw a few out. Don’t worry because there’s a trick to keep them longer that I posted a couple of years ago and it’s Berries • How to Keep Them Longer. You’ll be amazed how effective it is. 😉

For the making of this cocktail, simple syrup is a common ingredient for it… as a matter of fact, any drink that requires sweetness. In the video 📽, I use powdered sugar and the reason why is the day before, I forgot to make simple syrup. I was surprised to see that it worked just fine and couldn’t see any difference in the taste so note to self, this is a great substitute for simple syrup.

Strawberry Daiquiris are so refreshing and very summery 😎. Fresh with a true berry flavor, this cocktail recipe is a great one to add to your bar menu. It takes 5 minutes to make and you’ll have a way better version than any premix from the store.
Cheers! 🥂

Teriyaki Beef Noodles Recipe • A Quick & Tasty Meal! | Club Foody

As much as I enjoy cooking fancy recipes, when summer is here, I want fast, uncomplicated, and of course, very delicious! I want to enjoy myself outside… not be stuck in the kitchen. Unless we barbecue 🔥 on the patio, this is when my 30-minute or less recipes come into play. They’re perfect when I want a fast meal…

I have tons and tons of recipes to chose from like Spicy Leftover Steak Fajitas, Mediterranean Fish Fillet with Tapenade, Orzo with Chicken & Asiago, Prawn Saganaki 🍤, Veal Piccata, Crab Louie Salad, Maple Mustard Pork Tenderloin, Tarragon Limoncello Halibut, Spaghetti alla Carbonara, Salade Lyonnaise 🥗, Hamburger Helper, Chicken Gyros, and much more…

David and I like stir fries. They have great flavor and are usually quick to make. I think of Cauliflower Fried Rice, Hunan Chicken, Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry, Mandarin Chicken 🐓, Crispy Ginger Beef, Cashew Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pineapple Pork, Szechuan Ginger Chicken, etc. including this one… Teriyaki Beef Noodles!

Wow! This recipe is simply loaded with deliciousness! With vegetables along with sirloin steak, seasoning and udon noodles, this is a satisfying meal! After the ingredients are prepped, it takes only 15 minutes ⏳ to cook and you’ve got yourself an amazing dinner.

As is mentioned in the title, there’s a lovely teriyaki sauce in it. If you’ve been following CF for a while, I really hope, you’ve tried my homemade recipe! It’s incredibly mouth-watering! If you haven’t, you’re missing out on something really great! To obtain this extremely tasty condiment, click on this link… Hawaiian-Style Teriyaki Sauce

As you know, I’m very meticulous when it comes to measuring. I could never stand looking at a recipe and seeing “1 large onion” or “3 carrots” – what size and how much? Measurements like these are inaccurate. Sometimes though, it’s hard to determine the exact measurement especially when making stir fries. When cooking at high temperature, it’ll probably need more oil at some point therefore we have to readjust and use common sense…

This colorful Teriyaki Beef Noodles stir fry recipe has a tasty combination of ingredients. With several layers of flavor plus extremely quick to make 👩‍🍳, this is a great meal everyone will enjoy especially when you want a fast meal!
Bon Appétit!🍽

Orange Vanilla Yogurt Fruit Dip Recipe • So Tasty! | Club Foody

When the warm weather comes, we make sure to eat fruits everyday. They’re so juicy, flavorful, and fresh. In general, everyone enjoys fruits as is, in smoothies or desserts. There’s another way I like to have mine and it’s with my Orange Vanilla Yogurt Fruit Dip!

There’s nothing wrong with enhancing fruit by serving this tasty condiment! Fresh, mouth-watering, and incredibly easy to make, this recipe has to be on your “to do” list this summer. This is totally a crowd pleaser! It can be served for brunch, when hosting a party or for dessert.

This condiment pairs so well with any of your favorite fruits! I buy what’s available or depending how I feel. It can be strawberries 🍓, grapes 🍇, kiwis 🥝, pineapple 🍍, cantaloupes, bananas 🍓, oranges 🍊, etc. When it’s time to serve, I garnish with either finely grated orange zest (not too much though) or chopped nuts like pistachios, pecans, walnuts, or almonds.

The two basic ingredients are cream cheese and vanilla yogurt. I use Neufchâtel cheese but regular cream cheese will be just fine as long as either one is at room temperature. When it comes to yogurt, unless you have time to make your own, simply use your favorite brand – I use Activia.

Zest is a little bit on the strong side and like it in most recipes, it doesn’t require a lot. For the Orange Vanilla Yogurt Fruit Dip, it only needs ½ a teaspoon. A microplane is the best kitchen tool to use. If you don’t own one, after grating it, you’ll have to chop it finely for best results.

It doesn’t matter which recipe you’re making, it’s always important to taste and adjust the seasonings if needed. This applies to this featured one as well. The best way to do it is to take a piece of fruit and dip it. Keep in mind that fruits are fairly sweet so don’t go overboard with the sweetness. From there, transfer to the refrigerator to chill for 2 to 3 hours ⏰ to allow the flavors to blend.

Smooth and creamy with a nice balanced orange flavor, this tasty Orange Vanilla Yogurt Fruit Dip enhances any of your favorite fruits! Bring summer to your table with this yummy dip!
Bon Appétit! 🍽
