Having a salad a few times a week either as a meal or as a side is very healthy. It gives your body the TLC that it needs. It can be a garden salad, simple mixed greens or even a Julienne Salad… as long as you consume some regularly to keep your system moving.
On the other hand, there is a downside. You can eat as much salad as you want but if you like your store-bought dressing & vinaigrette, you defeat the purpose of eating “healthy. Even when they proclaim that their products are “natural” or “organic”, for the sake of shelf live, preservatives are added to the commercial bottles. Perhaps it’s only sodium but the amount found in them can be quite high.
If you are a foody or simply concerned about what you put in your body, making vinaigrette or a salad dressing from scratch is the way to go. It’s easy and takes next to no time to make. In the past I shared a few of them with you such as my Blue Cheese Dressing, Raspberry Vinaigrette, Zippy Ranch Dressing, Russian Dressing, Thousand Island Dressing, Mandarin Orange Vinaigrette with Sesame and many more to come.
Today, I present my Italian Vinaigrette! This recipe is so earthy and healthy. It is made with fresh ingredients combined with a very good quality extra virgin oil (that’s the secret to great vinaigrettes & dressings). Like most of them, this one is extremely easy to make. Besides using it on your green salad, it can also be used on pasta salad… very nice!
You can go ahead and buy it at your supermarket but if you are conscious about your health and have good healthy eating habits, this Italian Vinaigrette is another great recipe to add to your folder. You’ll see how much fresher and flavorful this one is compared to the commercial ones. It will definitely enhance the taste of your salad…
Bon Appétit!
